Hello! I’m
Peter Doherty, CAE
I am an Account Executive at Bostrom
Engaged Leadership | Results Driven | Innovative Solutions
A native Washingtonian and graduate of James Madison University, I achieved the Certified Association Executive designation from the American Society of Association Executives in 2005 and have previously served as a volunteer for ASAE and the Greater Washington Society for Association Executives. Here at Bostrom, I am proud to have served as Executive Director for the International Biometric Society since 2016.
Association work may be my chosen profession, but it’s also my passion. I am interested in building long-term relationships with volunteers and Boards seeking to grow their association’s presence and improve operational efficiency, while also maintaining integrity and building the perception that their organization successfully represents the industry and its varied stakeholders. Associations must seek to grow their available resources in order to truly thrive. My sales and marketing background helps me to act on sales opportunities that others sometimes miss. I also bring know-how and best practices to the table, while also remembering that it’s the members who define an organization’s culture and vision. My team stands ready to assist you.
My Background
With nearly twenty-five years of association management experience, as well as my experience working with association management companies and stand-alone organizations, I may not have seen it all at this point… but I likely know someone who has. I have served as Executive Director for Bostrom clients since 2015 and have partnered previously with non-profits in the sciences, healthcare, the arts, transportation, retail products, utilities and real estate.
I’ve been privileged to lead teams who have developed all-new guidelines for association operations, launched new tradeshows and sales initiatives, managed major increases in membership and shifts to operations, launched multiple websites and nationwide recruitment campaigns, and represented my clients as a primary press resource. My arts background (I am a semi-professional musician when I’m not at my day job!), communications, analytical and relationship-building skills all help me to maintain a professional demeanor while dealing with the tough questions from the media, important stakeholders and individual members.
