Hi! I’m Josie Hernandez
I am an Account Executive at Bostrom
Strategic Thinker | Active Listener | Member Engagement
I am an Account Executive where I currently serve as Executive Director for DONA International. In this role, I am responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of all activities and programs for DONA International. I work with DONA International Board of Directors and staff to ensure the execution of the DONA International mission, vision and strategic plan.
I am skilled in volunteer management and leadership development; it is vital to the success of an organization to have a pipeline of well-prepared leaders to execute the goals of the organization and maintain long term success. I am a strategic thinker that evaluates the relationships between all aspects of leadership and delivery to understand how structures are interrelated to bring maximum efficiency to an organization. I like to focus on areas of key member engagement to identify the member behavior that will inform organizational strategy and direction.
My Background
Prior to joining the Bostrom team, I was a Dietetic Practice Group Manager for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Dietetic Practice Groups are professional-interest groups of Academy members who wish to connect with other members within their areas of interest and/or practice. In this role I was responsible for leading and managing three Dietetic Practice Group executive committees as they developed and executed programs, projects, and member benefits.
I have worked in association management since 2012 and was awarded the IOM graduate recognition for completing a comprehensive course of study in nonprofit management through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Institute for Organization Management program.
I also have a background in retail management, sales, and customer service. I was General Manager for several Casual Corner stores throughout the Chicago land area, including its flagship location on Michigan Avenue. I am passionate about lifelong learning and sharing my knowledge with others. I taught Customer Service and Sales Fundamentals for the Retail Training Institute at Instituto del Progreso Latino. This course prepares students to receive the Customer Service and Sales credential offered by the National Retail Federation.
I am an advocate for promoting diversity in the workplace and throughout my organization. I am co-founder of Association Latinos online LinkedIn community whose mission is to advance Latino leadership in associations, and partner with organizations to foster diversity and inclusion efforts. I have also been a member of Association Forum for ten years and am the current Co-Chair of their inaugural Latinx Advisory Group.
