Hi! I’m
Claire Shanley
I am an Account Executive at Bostrom
Board Engagement | Mentor | Federal Agency Expertise
I bring more than 30 years of experience working with associations in several industries in the professional, trade and medical fields. I’ve worked with the American Society of Access Professionals (ASAP) for most of my association career. ASAP is a unique organization providing unique challenges in that it brings together the federal government information specialists/privacy officers/records managers with the requester community. Providing leadership, strategic direction and oversight on all committees, finances, programs, training events, and sponsor/vendor relationships is a real balancing act as the Society mission brings together sometimes divergent viewpoints. I am currently leading the Society through the development of a certification program.
I also direct the daily operations of the Center for Excellence in Assisted Living (CEAL), a collaborative organization that brings together provider, consumer and other groups to further excellence in the field. Working closely with the board of directors, we achieve CEAL’s mission of being a convener and working on various research projects, sometimes in partnership with other organizations.
My Background
I began my association career at the Associated Accounting Firms International where I handled meeting planning, CPE responsibilities, and partner level board and committee educational activity support. The days of the glass ceiling were real, and it was not uncommon to be the only woman in the room.
I then branched out into the association management consulting world and helped run a consumer group where I wrote testimony on funeral reform for the Federal Trade Commission. Throughout my career, I have headed up or served as executive director of the International Interactive Communications Society; International Association of Professional Security Consultants; Association of Accounting Administrators; D.C. Chapter of the American Society of CLUs and ChFCs; Public Sector Division of the National Purchasing Institute; Council of American Kidney Societies; International Biometric Society; and Employers Council on Flexible Compensation.
I joined Bostrom in 1995. I absolutely love working with my clients and find that supporting the boards and member volunteers is incredibly rewarding. Working at Bostrom is also fun. I enjoy all of my colleagues, and have colleague relationships that have lasted over 25 years.
