Kristi joined the Bostrom team as a Program Manager in January 2016. She works with the International Biometric Society (IBS) and the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB). Her primary responsibility is client satisfaction and retention through developing and executing client activities and programs, specializing in educational programming, meeting planning, sales/marketing, and development. She is primed to take on the role of Co-Chair to Bostrom’s Program Managers and Directors Organizing team.
In her role for more than two years, Kristi reflects on her journey to Bostrom, “Right out of college, I moved to Washington, D.C. in search of a career. I would say that I fell into the association management world by accident/luck. Ha! Seriously, I did some temp-to-hire work and ended up with a trade association in Virginia as their Membership and Events Coordinator. I enjoyed communicating with the members and wearing ‘multiple hats’ as they say. I remember finding the job posting for Bostrom and thinking, ‘What in the world is an AMC?’ I spent a lot of time thinking about this type of business model and I realized that this could be IT, this is what I should be doing and so I took the risk.”
Kristi made the leap to Bostrom and hasn’t looked back. “Finding an organization who is willing to provide continuing education and who is willing to mold and assist their employees for growth within the company is very rare. I have personally seen this growth and assistance since being with the company as I am currently preparing to become a Certified Association Executive (CAE).” Kristi continues, “I really enjoy the multi-client aspect of the job and being able to work on so many different projects. My time at Bostrom for the past two and half years has been very exciting and challenging. I have had the opportunity to grow and learn quickly. I look forward to many years with Bostrom and am grateful for the opportunity they have given me.”
Bostrom’s business philosophy of agile association management™ is just one of the many ways we help our clients grow their organization. Kristi incorporates this philosophy into her interaction with clients every day. “I feel that I am able to ‘own’ my projects and I am given the freedom to accomplish the task at my individual pace. This creates a stress free environment for me and in return, I am able to create and complete client projects quickly and accurately. In addition, I am confident to speak up about new technologies or programs that would benefit the client while making my work more efficient.”
Kristi would offer this advice to someone who is thinking about getting into the AMC world, “The AMC world is very exciting but very hard work! I would tell someone that you should be ready for ANYTHING at ANYTIME!”
