Bostrom Announces New Consulting Engagement with the National Academy of Sciences

Written by Bostrom

The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) has selected Bostrom as its consulting partner to conduct a business structure and process review for the Technical Activities Division (TAD) of NAS’s Transportation Research Board (TRB). TRB is run by a dedicated staff of more than 30 professionals and over 200 standing committees of volunteers. TAD oversees the management of annual meetings and specialty conferences, engages with and grows important relationships with sponsors and external stakeholders, and provides full management of TRR and other publications.

Bostrom Consulting will evaluate TAD’s operations and provide recommendations for improvements to staffing structure, workflow, division of duties between staff and volunteers and priorities based on member/stakeholder value and business process best practices. The goal is to align the overall business structure, processes and tools for the greatest efficiency and effectiveness.

“While NAS’s divisions are not associations, they are very association-like given their volunteer workforce and staff structure. Our consulting clients look to Bostrom to provide not only strategic planning and business modeling, many ask us to assess their internal processes and structure and recommend ways to improve them,” said Bostrom President Randy Lindner. “All clients have different needs and we put strategic teams together to address what is most useful for the client and the outcomes they are seeking.”

Bostrom Consulting provides constructive solutions for its management clients and stand-alone associations through proven, specialized, consulting techniques.  Using Agile Association Management© and design thinking approaches, Bostrom brings best practices and benchmarks along with a flexible and nimble approach to keep up with the pace of change occurring in today’s global, digital environment. Consulting engagements include business modeling – the new strategic plan, digital strategy, human capital management, revenue diversification and integrated marketing and branding.
