Bostrom seeks a Program Director to support the Events Industry Council (EIC), a global federation, as the Director of Certification, in a dedicated, full time position. The Events Industry Council’s 30+ member organisations represent over 103,500 individuals and 19,500 firms and properties involved in the business events industry. EIC promotes high standards and professionalism in the events industry with the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) program and signature program activities. The CMP credential is recognised globally as the badge of excellence in the events industry. The qualifications for certification are based on professional experience, education, and a rigorous exam.

This individual will oversee the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and Certified Meeting Professional-Healthcare (CMP-HC) certification programs, the CMP certification customer services and support team and the relationship with EIC’s testing agency. This individual will oversee the staff that supports the development, launch and management of education offerings, the Learning Management System and the educational products sold through the platform. This individual will work closely with EIC’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), Vice President of Sustainability and Industry Advancement, EIC’s Knowledge Committee, and the CMP Governance Commission and its Chairs, its committees and task forces which oversee the CMP Examination program.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in certification program management and direction, examination development process and certification board operations for a global audience; experience with educational product development, marketing, launch preferred. They will have a passion and skill for planning, organizing, controlling, and implementing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. This job requires exceptional attention to detail and written communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal communication skills.

The Director of Certification will also manage the Bostrom staff assigned to support EIC’s certification and education programs, including Program Managers and Associates.


  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5 – 7 years Certification Board experience, with association management experience preferred, either at a stand-alone certification board or in the certification department of a member association or trade association.
  • Education product development, marketing and management preferred.
  • Global and/or international credentialing program or other experience preferred.
  • CAE, CMP, or other related certifications a plus.
