ISHA CASE STUDY ON LONG TERM COMPREHENSIVE MANAGEMENT

Background

The Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ISHA) is a non-profit organization dedicated whose mission is to support and advocate for speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and the individuals they serve with communication, hearing, and swallowing disorders. ISHA joined Bostrom thirteen years ago with the need to concentrate its leadership more on the strategic advancement of its mission and less on day-to-day management activities.

Bostrom’s Solutions for Success

In September of 1992 Bostrom evaluated ISHA’s processes and streamlined its procedures adapting best practices in the industry along with aligning those processes with their budget resources. Bostrom’s client service approach of providing timely, courteous, and effective service created an atmosphere of trust and a mutually agreeable partnership. This allowed the association to grow and meet annual objectives while giving their professionals the opportunity to focus on strategic legislative and continuing education issues that directly tie into the advancement of their mission.

“For more than 12 years, Bostrom’s management has provided us with strategic and tactical services that allowed us to develop and manage our organization’s growth,” says Patricia A. Van Slyke, PhD, Past President, IllinoisSpeech-Language-Hearing Association.

Bostrom’s management was an integral factor in ISHA’s successes over the years. These successes include:

  • 45% increase in membership;
  • 115% increase in annual income (with only one $10.00 dues increase);
  • 55% increase in exhibitor participation in Annual Conference from 2004 to 2005; and
  • More than 30 additional continuing education programs held throughout the state each year.

What ISHA’s story demonstrates is the power of partnership with the right solutions coupled with a trusted relationship, capable support and ongoing communication from Bostrom.
