Council of Medical Specialty Societies Selects Bostrom for Strategic Outsourcing
CHICAGO – January 27, 2009 -- The Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS), selected Bostrom as its management partner for administrative, accounting, membership and meeting support. The relationship will be kicked off with a strategic planning session performed by Bostrom’s consulting arm, Bostrom Consulting Associates.
“Bostrom’s expertise in the healthcare arena combined with its proven track record in association management and consulting matched what the organization needed to take us to the next level,” said Norman Kahn, M.D., Executive Vice president, CMSS. “In fact, one of the Bostrom team’s initial priorities will be to lead us through a strategic planning process to help ensure that CMSS is positioned to be a leading voice for medical specialty societies in a time of challenge and opportunity in health care,” he said.
Jeanne Sheehy, recently appointed CMSS’s new executive director, will lead the team from Bostrom’s Chicago office.
“As CMSS looks to the future, the Bostrom team will provide the day-to-day support – as well as develop a broader strategic framework – to help the organization advance and realize its goals,” said Ken Monroe, chairman and CEO, Bostrom. “With the ever-changing landscape in the medical and healthcare environment our hope is to support Dr. Kahn and the organization with stable, reliable management and focused support on advancing their mission,” he said.
About the Council of Medical Specialty Societies
The Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS) is a unique forum in U.S. medicine. Founded in 1965 as the Tri-College Council, CMSS was created to provide an independent forum for the discussion by medical specialties of issues of national interest and mutual concern. Founding members were the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American College of Physicians, and the American College of Surgeons. In 1967, as other specialty societies joined, CMSS adopted its current name. Today, 32 societies with an aggregate membership of well over 500,000 physicians are members of CMSS. The organization serves to represent the views of medical specialty societies in influencing policy, medical education and accreditation from a broad, cross-specialty perspective.
