Volunteer Leader Support
An effective organization – one that seeks to reach a new, higher level – requires an effective board of directors and staff. While orientation of new board members is important, ongoing development for the entire board also is necessary.
It is a challenge to develop skills that will enable a group of individuals to function effectively as a unit. While board members must uphold their fiduciary responsibilities, they also must be aware of what they should and should not be doing. Leadership development training will increase board member understanding of effective governance models that can be used by a plan-driven organization.
Association staffs also can benefit from an assessment of systems and procedures and working relationships. Effective training also clarifies for board members the role of staff and, in particular, the chief staff officer.
