John Dee, CPA - COO & CFO

JDeeJohn Dee, CPA, is chief operating officer (COO) and chief financial officer (CFO). He is a recognized expert in developing program-based financial statements for associations that enable the leadership to easily monitor the business activities of their organizations. Dee has more than 10 years of experience working with both 501(c) 3 and 501 (c) 6 groups as well as for-profit organizations. His experience spans various industries including education, finance, healthcare, manufacturing, marketing, publishing, and technology.

Dee joined Bostrom in 1992 as staff accountant and has provided accounting support to numerous Bostrom clients. In 2000, Dee was appointed CFO and general manager for the Chicago office. Dee was charged with transitioning a large, professional society with multiple affiliates and numerous restricted funds. He restructured the chart of accounts to incorporate inter-fund transactions; developed procedures to properly handle restricted activities; and created a consolidated financial statement that provided the society leadership with a concise, overall view of its operation. Dee has trained volunteer treasurers and other individuals in leadership on the intricacies of not-for-profit accounting and their fiduciary role within their organizations. His efforts in financial analysis and budgeting have aided numerous organizations to become more structured and build a solid financial foundation to enable the organizations to carry out their missions.

In his role as COO, Dee oversees overall company operations for both Chicago and D.C. offices, including human resources, information technology, and facility maintenance to name a few.

Dee graduated with honors while earning his B.B.A. degree in Accounting from the University of Iowa in 1992. The State of Illinois recognized him as a Certified Public Accountant in 1993.
